What is LinkedIn InMail?
Last updated
InMail is a LinkedIn message you can send to a person you are not connected to. It is a paid feature: credits come with Premium plans such as Sales Navigator and Recruiter, and the number you get depends on the plan.
How it differs from a normal message
A normal message needs a connection. InMail skips that step, so it suits recruiters and sales reps who want to reach someone before connecting. Some members also have open profiles that anyone can message for free.
When it makes sense
InMail works when the person is hard to reach any other way and you have a clear reason to write. For most outreach, a connection request with a short note followed by a message is cheaper and gets a similar or better response.
InMail and automation
Spurly does not send InMail. It sends connection requests and messages to people you are connected to. See the LinkedIn outreach guide for how the standard flow works.
