What is connection acceptance rate?
Last updated
Connection acceptance rate is the percentage of LinkedIn connection requests you send that the recipient accepts.
How it is calculated
Accepted requests divided by sent requests, over a fixed period. If you send 100 requests and 30 are accepted, your acceptance rate is 30%. Count only requests old enough to have had a chance to be answered, since many people take days or weeks to respond.
What counts as a good rate
There is no official benchmark. Rates vary a lot by audience, by whether you add a note and by how relevant you are to the person. Compare your rate with your own earlier campaigns, not with a number from a blog post.
What moves it
- Relevance: a shared topic, group or connection helps most.
- Profile quality: people check who you are before accepting.
- The note: short and specific usually beats long and generic. Sometimes no note at all does better, so test.
- Targeting: a precise list beats a big one.
A low rate is also a safety signal. If many people ignore or flag requests, LinkedIn may take notice, which is why tight targeting matters. See how to raise your LinkedIn acceptance rate and the connection request templates.
