What is a good LinkedIn connection acceptance rate?

Short answer: there is no official benchmark for a good LinkedIn acceptance rate. Measure your own, compare it against your past results and treat a sharp drop as a signal to fix your list or note. As a floor, one vendor guide says an acceptance rate below about 15% can look like spam to LinkedIn.

How to calculate it

Acceptance rate = accepted requests ÷ requests sent × 100. Count requests sent in a period, wait a week or two for people to respond and then count how many accepted. Pending invitations count as not yet accepted.

Example: 80 sent, 40 accepted, 20 still pending, 20 withdrawn or ignored. The rate is 40 ÷ 80 = 50% so far, and it may rise as the pending ones resolve.

What moves it

LeverEffect
Audience relevanceThe biggest one. People accept people they can place.
A real reason in the noteGives a reason to say yes.
Your profileA clear, credible profile helps people decide.
Shared contextA mutual connection or group lifts acceptance.
Volume and timingSending to too many in a short time lowers quality of targeting.

Why it matters beyond results

Tool vendors link a low rate to restrictions: ignored requests and "I don't know this person" reports are signals that outreach is unwanted. LinkedIn does not publish its rules for this, so we treat it as a precaution. See what gets accounts restricted.

How to improve it

  1. Narrow the audience before you change the message.
  2. Add one real detail per person.
  3. Shorten the note.
  4. Withdraw old pending invitations so they do not pile up.
  5. Test one change at a time on batches of at least 30 to 50 people.

Spurly detects acceptances automatically for your connections and lets you withdraw stale invitations, so the numbers are easy to read. Insights charts are not available yet.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good LinkedIn acceptance rate?

There is no official benchmark. Many people aim for a clear majority of a targeted list. As a warning level, Zeliq's 2026 guide says below about 15% can look like spam. Compare against your own past results, not a universal number.

How do I calculate acceptance rate?

Accepted connection requests divided by requests sent over the same period, multiplied by 100. Allow a week or two for people to respond before judging.

Does a low acceptance rate risk my account?

Vendors treat it as a warning sign because it suggests unwanted contact. LinkedIn does not publish thresholds.
