Using templates without sounding like one

Change the first sentence every time, because that is the part people recognise. Mention something true about the person. Keep the ask small. More on this is in the LinkedIn acceptance rate guide and the outreach guide.

Frequently asked questions

What is the character limit for a LinkedIn connection note?

300 characters. Every template below fits, with room left for a first name.

Should I always add a note?

Not always. A note helps when the person has no obvious reason to know you. When you share a group, an event or a connection, a blank request can do as well. Test both with your audience.

Can I use these templates in an automated campaign?

Yes. Replace the bracketed parts with variables such as first name and company, and check the live preview before anything sends.
