What is the LinkedIn Social Selling Index?

Last updated

Social Selling Index (SSI) is a score from 0 to 100 that LinkedIn gives your account to show how effectively you use the platform for selling. It is made of four parts, each scored up to 25.

The four components

  1. Establish your professional brand: a complete profile and useful content.
  2. Find the right people: how well you search for and identify prospects.
  3. Engage with insights: sharing and interacting with relevant content.
  4. Build relationships: growing your network with decision-makers.

Does it matter?

LinkedIn presents SSI as an indicator of social selling effort. It is not a ranking factor you can rely on for reach, and it does not tell you whether a message will be answered. Treat it as a rough habit tracker, not a goal.

What actually helps outreach

A clear profile, a targeted list and short relevant messages affect replies far more than the score. See the LinkedIn outreach guide.
