What is a drip campaign?
Last updated
Drip campaign means a set of messages sent automatically, one after another, at planned intervals. The term comes from email marketing, and on LinkedIn it usually means a connection request followed by a short run of messages.
How it differs from a one-off message
A one-off message goes out once. A drip campaign keeps going for each person until the steps run out or the person replies.
Doing it well on LinkedIn
- Keep it short: a request, one first message, one or two follow-ups.
- Space the steps by days, not hours.
- Stop when someone replies. Scripted messages after a reply feel automated and damage trust.
- Use personal details such as first name, and preview before you send.
Related: sales cadence. In Spurly, campaigns run sequences from the cloud at a paced rate and stop on a reply.
